Roger W. Sperry: Nobel Laureate<\/p>\n

In 1981 Roger Wolcott Sperry won the Nobel Prize “for his discoveries concerning the functional specialization of the cerebral hemispheres”<\/i>,\u00a0 made in the 1950\u2019s and 60\u2019s. Although Sperry had been working on addressing important issues such as chemoaffinity and nerve regeneration, the Nobel committee chose to focus on his pioneering work involving the split-brain. Other recipients that year were David H. Hubel and Torsten N.
